The Brittle Sea Star, a common sight throughout the Caribbean, features a tiny red central disc with varying patterns. Its long spiny arms are adorned with white spines and a distinctive white pattern. This captivating creature is primarily nocturnal and tends to seek shelter under rocks during the day. At night, it emerges to feed on detritus, leftover food, and small organisms, contributing to the cleanliness of the aquarium.

To ensure the well-being of the Red Brittle Sea Star, it is crucial to avoid copper-based medications, as it is highly intolerant to them. Additionally, sudden changes in oxygen levels, salinity, and pH of the water can be detrimental to its health. Therefore, the drip acclimation method is highly recommended for all Sea Stars to acclimate them slowly to changes in water chemistry and prevent any shock.

When handling the Red Brittle Sea Star, care should be taken not to expose it to air. This delicate sea creature is best left undisturbed and should be treated with utmost gentleness.

For its diet in the aquarium, offering a varied menu is essential. Frozen mysis and brine shrimp can be provided, along with very finely chopped shrimp and mussels, ensuring the sea star receives the necessary nutrients for its well-being.
