The Passer Angelfish, also known as the King Angelfish, has a dark blue body with a white vertical stripe extending from the dorsal fin down to two-thirds of the way to the pelvic fin. The dorsal fin is rimmed in yellow, while the caudal and pectoral fins are yellow, and the ventral fins are yellow in females and white in males. Juveniles are orange with one white and multiple blue stripes.

Due to its potential size, the Passer Angelfish requires at least a 250-gallon tank and can become aggressive, so it should be housed with semi-aggressive tank mates. It grazes on live rock but may nip at stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates) and clam mantles, making it unsuitable for a reef aquarium.

To meet the nutritional needs of the Passer Angelfish, include Spirulina, marine algae, meaty items, and high-quality angelfish preparations containing sponges in its diet. Feed at least three times daily.

The Passer Angelfish will undergo color changes as it matures, with the small juvenile showing juvenile colorations, the small-medium transitioning to young adult coloration, the medium becoming a sub-adult, and the large displaying adult coloration.
