The Pygmy Angelfish, also known as the Cherubfish, Cherub Angelfish, or Atlantic Pygmy Angelfish, features a bright sapphire-blue body with orange highlights on its face. To house a Pygmy Angelfish, a minimum of a 55-gallon tank with ample hiding spots and live rock for grazing on microalgae is necessary. However, be cautious since this species may nip at large-polyped stony corals and clam mantles.
Although small in size, the Pygmy Angelfish can be an aggressive species. It is recommended to never keep more than one male per tank to avoid deadly fights. Breeding pairs can be kept, and successful breeding has been achieved in aquariums.
To maintain a healthy diet, the Pygmy Angelfish should be fed a variety of foods including Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other meaty items. It is recommended to feed them three times a day.
