The Queen Angelfish is a visually stunning fish with vibrant yellow and electric sapphire-blue highlights that almost appear iridescent. It also has a dark spot on its forehead surrounded by bright blue, and elongated dorsal and pelvic fins. However, it can grow up to 18 inches and requires a tank of at least 250 gallons with plenty of hiding places and live rock for grazing. It is not suitable for reef aquariums as it tends to nip at stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates) and clam mantles. Additionally, it can be aggressive and should be introduced to the community tank last. Keeping the Queen Angelfish healthy can be challenging, and it is prone to suffering from incorrect water parameters and diet.

To keep the Queen Angelfish healthy, its diet should include Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other meaty items. It should be fed at least three times daily.

The Queen Angelfish comes in different sizes: the Small Juvenile will have juvenile colorations or may be transitioning to a young adult, while the Medium will be a sub-adult, and the Large will have adult coloration.
