The Evansi Anthias, also known as the Yellowtail Goldie or Evan's Anthias, is a vibrant and colorful marine fish. Its predominant violet body is adorned with yellow dots on the flanks, and a striking orange line runs laterally from its nose to the pectoral fin.
With a peaceful and non-aggressive nature, the Evansi Anthias coexists well with other fish of the same variety. When housing multiple Evansi Anthias, it is advisable to have one male accompanied by several females in a tank with a minimum capacity of 125 gallons. If kept as a solitary fish, a 75-gallon tank is sufficient.
Like other Anthias species, the Evansi Anthias possesses the unique trait of being hermaphroditic. If a dominant male perishes, the largest female in the group can undergo changes and transform into the dominant male role.
Proper care for the Evansi Anthias involves providing a varied diet once they are acclimated to their new aquarium. This should include frozen mysis shrimp, enriched frozen brine shrimp, and over time, they may also accept high-quality flake foods, offered in small quantities throughout the day. Ensuring a steady supply of nutritious live food can be achieved through an attached refugium that cultivates copepods and amphipods, keeping these active planktivores content and well-nourished.
It is important to note that maintaining the Evansi Anthias can be challenging and is best suited for experienced aquarists. Novices may find it more difficult to meet the specific needs of this species.
