The Swissguard Basslet, also known as Peppermint Basslet, is a highly sought-after fish for saltwater aquariums due to its striking appearance. Its slender body is primarily red and features horizontal stripes of black and mustard-yellow, although in certain lighting conditions the black can appear silver. The dorsal and caudal fins are tipped in black and outlined in a pale blue hue. This fish is an excellent addition to reef aquariums but may pose a threat to small ornamental crustaceans. It is recommended to keep a single individual in at least a 10-gallon tank.

Being a carnivore, the Swissguard Basslet requires a diet of meaty foods such as marine fish, crustacean flesh, mysis shrimp, and high-quality frozen preparations to thrive.
