The Vagabond Butterflyfish displays a striking appearance primarily characterized by its white body adorned with diagonal stripes that form chevron-like patterns. Complementing its unique look is a distinct black eye band, and its dorsal, caudal, and anal fins boast a vibrant yellow hue with two prominent black vertical bands.
In terms of habitat requirements, the Vagabond Butterflyfish thrives in an aquarium with a capacity of 125 gallons or more. It generally coexists harmoniously with most other butterflyfish species, exhibiting a resilient disposition even when sharing space with more assertive tank mates.
However, it's essential to note that the Vagabond Butterflyfish is not compatible with reef environments. In its natural habitat, it sustains itself by consuming algae, anemones, and coral polyps. In captivity, it readily accepts a variety of meaty preparations and can often be observed grazing on filamentous algae as part of its dietary preferences.
