The Black and White Ocellaris Clownfish is a highly recognizable species, featuring a striking jet-black body adorned with three white stripes on each side. These fish initially exhibit an orange or umber coloration when young, gradually darkening as they mature into their adult appearance. They are a robust and versatile species that can be enjoyed by both beginner and experienced aquarists.

This clownfish species is well-suited to a reef aquarium and can coexist with many other tank-raised clownfish varieties if introduced simultaneously. Breeding captive-bred clownfish in a home aquarium is a simple process. The female is typically larger than the male, and the pair will often remain close to each other in the tank. These fish lay eggs on flat surfaces and fiercely defend them against other tank mates. Depending on the temperature, the eggs hatch within 6-11 days, and the fry must be raised in a separate aquarium and fed rotifers and baby brine shrimp.

Omnivorous by nature, Black and White Ocellaris Clownfish require a balanced diet of both meaty and plant-based foods. They readily accept a high-quality marine flake food with spirulina algae, as well as frozen and freeze-dried foods. It's important to note that these fish possess cheek spines, which can become entangled in nets during capture. Using a specimen container is a safer alternative for transport.
