The Gold Stripe Maroon Clownfish is an excellent choice for a reef aquarium. Typically, Maroon Clownfish have three narrow white stripes and vary in color from bright red to dark maroon. The broodstock used to create the Gold Stripe Maroon Clownfish was discovered in the Sumatra region. Although the juvenile white stripes are visible when shipped at around 6-7 months, the gold color of the stripes will not develop until they reach around 9-12 months old. The gold color will start with the head stripe.

These fish are popular and generally easy to care for in aquariums, but they do not tolerate other Maroon Clownfish well. Unless a mated pair is obtained, it is recommended to keep them individually. The Gold Stripe variety appears to be less aggressive than the White Striped variety. This is a large clownfish species, with adult females growing to over 6 inches in size. They are also a long-lived fish, with pairs observed to spawn for more than 35 years.

The Gold Stripe Maroon Clownfish has an omnivorous diet and will eat almost any meaty food items and herbivore preparations.

When capturing Maroon Clownfish, it is important not to use a net as their cheek spines can become entangled. A specimen container should be used instead.
