The True Percula Clownfish is a popular and easy-to-care-for marine fish. Although often mistaken for the Ocellaris Clownfish, it can be distinguished by its darker black shading around the white barring. With its vivid orange coloration and lively personality, it is a favorite for many home aquariums. True Percula Clownfish are relatively hardy and can be kept in groups, but be aware that eventually, one individual will dominate and pick on the others.
While Clownfish are often seen hosting in anemones, they do not require each other to survive or thrive. In fact, it's often better to choose a host that requires less maintenance for the clownfish, as anemones require intense lighting and a stable environment in a well-established reef aquarium.
Feeding Clownfish is easy as they will happily eat a varied diet that includes meaty foods such as frozen mysis shrimp, finely chopped raw shrimp, commercially prepared herbivore preparations, as well as flake and pelleted food. To keep their colors vibrant, it's recommended to feed them color-enhancing foods.
