Minimum Tank Size: 70 gallons
The High-Hat, also referred to as the Hi-Hat, boasts a glistening silvery body adorned with dark horizontal stripes and a tall front dorsal fin. To ensure its well-being, this species necessitates a tranquil community setting within a spacious 70-gallon aquarium or larger. The aquarium should feature a sandy bottom and an abundance of hiding spots. During the initial acclimation to its new environment, the High-Hat typically remains concealed until it feels secure.
To encourage the High-Hat to emerge from hiding, it's important to provide regular meals consisting of a diverse array of live items, such as black worms and brine shrimp, as well as prepared meaty foods. When hungry, the High-Hat will diligently comb the sandy bottom in search of worms, crustaceans, and small fish. It might even indulge in the occasional fireworm.
