The Garden Eel, also referred to as Hass's Garden Eel, possesses a unique appearance resembling a colony of seagrass. Typically, the majority of its body is buried within the sandy substrate, and it retreats further into the sand when approached. To provide suitable conditions for the Garden Eel, it is recommended to house them in an aquarium of at least 40 gallons in size, equipped with a minimum of 6 inches of sand substrate and a gentle water current. It is crucial to avoid introducing aggressive tank mates and to keep decorations to a minimum. Additionally, a secure and tightly-fitting lid is necessary to prevent the eels from escaping.
Regarding their diet, Garden Eels require a combination of meaty foods and live offerings. Freshwater ghost shrimp or small feeder fish can be provided as live food sources, while incorporating meaty foods into their diet is also essential for their nutritional needs.
