The Flame Hawkfish, also recognized as the Brilliant Hawkfish, boasts a stunning bright red body adorned with striking dark markings along its dorsal fin and around the eyes. Beyond its captivating appearance, it is known for its personable nature, making it a delightful addition to a reef aquarium. However, it is essential to ensure there are no small shrimp present in the tank as they may become prey.

For optimal care, the Flame Hawkfish requires a spacious 30-gallon or larger aquarium equipped with plenty of live rock, providing both structure and hiding spots. Although mostly peaceful, this species tends to spend its time perching and swimming amidst the branches of hard corals. Caution should be exercised when adding them to an aquarium housing small species of bottom dwelling gobies and blennies. Being bottom dwellers, they prefer to "hang out" on rock perches, patiently awaiting passing food.

A well-balanced diet for the Flame Hawkfish includes a variety of marine meats, frozen preparations, and live feeder shrimp. This combination of foods caters to their dietary needs and ensures their overall health and vitality in captivity.
