Bergia Nudibranch (Aeolidiella stephanieae)
Max Size: .5 - .75 inch
Diet: Aiptasia
Temperament: Peaceful
Reef Compatible: Yes
Minimum Tank Size: 20 gallons
The ideal, all-natural solution for Aiptasia control.
Berghia, a type of seaslug, thrive best in well-maintained aquarium conditions. They excel at hunting and eradicating Aiptasia, but they require a sufficient supply of these pests to survive. We strongly advise against purchasing Berghias for just a few Aiptasias, as they might not find enough food and could fail to fulfill their purpose. Each hermaphroditic pair of Berghia can produce a substantial number of babies (around 1-2k embryos), and those that survive will reach adulthood in approximately a month.
For a 75-gallon tank with a heavy Aiptasia infestation, we recommend starting with 6-8 individuals. To ensure their thriving in a reef aquarium, Berghia should be kept in pairs. As a general guideline, consider having 2 Berghias for every 20 gallons of water. By carefully introducing these effective hunters, you can naturally and effectively control the Aiptasia population in your aquarium.
