Diet: Herbivore
Temperament: Peaceful
Reef Compatible: With Caution. May eat soft polyps.
Minimum Tank Size: 125 gallons
The Yellow Foxface, also referred to as the Foxface Rabbitfish, boasts a truly distinctive body coloration. Its mottled yellow-brown body with a dark chest creates a captivating contrast. The face features a light color with speckles on the lower half, adding to its unique appearance. As a remarkably hardy fish, it makes a fantastic addition to newly-established aquariums.
For optimal care, provide the Yellow Foxface with a spacious aquarium of at least 125 gallons. Generally peaceful, this species should be housed away from other rabbitfish. However, it can coexist with more aggressive fish. The Yellow Foxface possesses venomous dorsal spines that deter potential predators. When well-fed, rabbitfish like the Yellow Foxface are generally reef-safe, but inadequate feeding may lead them to nip and consume certain species of LPS and soft corals.
To maintain the health and vibrancy of the Yellow Foxface, a diverse diet is essential. Offer a variety of fresh vegetables and undesirable algae species to satisfy its nutritional needs. Although it may occasionally nip at and consume some soft and hard coral polyps, ensuring a balanced and nutritious diet can help minimize this behavior, making it a delightful addition to a reef aquarium.
