The Blue Unicorn Tang, also known as the Spotted Unicornfish, originates from the pristine waters surrounding Hawaii. As juveniles, they display a silver coloration, but as they age, their appearance gradually transforms into a stunning combination of black and blue hues. Along with the color change, their shape evolves from an oval as juveniles to a long, bullet-like shape as adults. One distinctive feature of adult Blue Unicorn Tangs is the long horn that develops on their nose.

To accommodate the needs of the Blue Unicorn Tang, a spacious 360-gallon or larger aquarium with ample live rock is essential. This setup provides plenty of swimming room and hiding places for the fish. While these tangs can be aggressive towards their own species, they generally coexist peacefully with other fish in the tank.

Maintaining a well-rounded diet is crucial for Tangs, along with other fish in the aquarium. In addition to meaty foods, it is important to offer them plenty of marine-based seaweed and algae. This dietary addition strengthens their immune system, reduces aggression, and enhances their overall health. Providing dried seaweed tied to a rock or using a veggie clip and feeding at least 3 times per week ensures their dietary needs are met. Excellent products like Sea Veggies, Seaweed Salad, and Ocean Nutrition are available and easy to use for this purpose.
