The Yellow Belly Regal Blue Tang is a stunning color variety of the popular Blue Tang species. While it shares the attractive coloration of the Blue Tang, it stands out with a more vibrant, deep-blue color and a brilliant yellow covering a larger part of its body. The yellow color is most pronounced on the caudal fin and continues along the belly, giving the fish an exciting burst of color. Young Yellow Belly Regal Blue Tangs may not display the yellow belly until they mature. With its distinctive black markings resembling an artist's palette, this fish makes a striking addition to reef or fish-only aquariums.

Originating from the Indian Ocean reefs, the Yellow Belly Regal Blue Tang appreciates having hiding spots among live rocks. Despite its love for hiding, it is an active swimmer, requiring ample space to roam in the aquarium for its well-being. While generally peaceful towards most tankmates, it can show aggression towards other fish of its own species. If keeping multiple specimens, introducing them all at once into a larger marine system is recommended.

To maintain their health and reduce aggression, it's crucial to provide a balanced diet for the Yellow Belly Regal Blue Tang. Along with meaty foods, make sure they are offered plenty of marine-based algae or seaweed. This type of diet strengthens their immune system and promotes overall health. Feeding dried seaweed tied to a rock or using a veggie clip at least three times a week is ideal.

Careful observation is necessary for the Yellow Belly Regal Blue Tang, as it is more susceptible to lateral line disease, fin erosion, ich, and other skin parasites compared to many other fish species. Monitoring their health and water conditions will help ensure they thrive in the aquarium.
