The Feather Duster, also referred to as the Giant Feather Duster, possesses a fan-shaped crown known as the radiole, which exhibits tan or orange hues with brown band patterns. In certain species and locations, the radiole can grow up to 7 inches in diameter and display more vibrant colors.

Using its radiole, the Feather Duster filters and captures small floating organisms, directing them towards its centrally located mouth within the crown. To protect its segmented body, it secretes a tube resembling parchment that serves as a covering. When disturbed, it can swiftly retract its radiole into the tube. In cases of severe stress, it may shed its crown and regenerate it later.

Typically, the Feather Duster inhabits the coral rubble found at the base of a reef aquarium, incorporating some of the rubble into its parchment-like tube. It thrives in well-established reef systems as it relies on plankton as its primary source of nutrition. It is highly sensitive to copper-based medications and should be kept away from them.

To ensure its nutritional needs are met, supplemental feeding of phytoplankton and liquid organic foods is recommended for the Feather Duster.
