The Girdled Fairy Wrasse, also called the Lancetail Fairy Wrasse, exhibits a striking color pattern. Its abdomen is white, while the rest of its body can range from purple to pink, or even a greenish-yellow hue. Additionally, it features patches of pink on each side. Although the male and female share similar colors, the male intensifies its hues during courtship. The colors displayed by this fish can also vary depending on its mood.
Peaceful and active, the Girdled Fairy Wrasse is an excellent addition to fish-only or reef aquariums, preferably with a capacity of 75 gallons or more. It coexists harmoniously with corals and invertebrates, making it an ideal choice for reef setups. A group of females can be introduced to the aquarium along with a single male, either simultaneously or prior to the male's arrival. Due to its jumping behavior, it is crucial to provide a tightly-fitting canopy to prevent escapes.
To ensure proper nutrition, the diet of the Girdled Fairy Wrasse should consist of vitamin-enriched frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and other meaty foods. Supplementing with high-quality marine flakes and pellets is also recommended.
