Radiant Wrasse (Halichoeres iridis)

$120.00 Sold out

The Radiant Wrasse, known by various names including the Orangehead Wrasse, Iridis Wrasse, and Radiant Africa Wrasse, displays striking features. As adults, they boast a dark red body, with hues lightening towards the edges and fins. Their head sports a brilliant gold hue, extending along the dorsal fin. Juveniles, however, exhibit more subdued colors.

To provide suitable care, a tank of at least 50 gallons with a secure lid is recommended. A sandy substrate, 2-3 inches deep, offers a refuge if the wrasse feels threatened. Peaceful wrasse companions, including those of its own species, are advisable.

Their diet should consist of vitamin-enriched frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and other meaty fare, supplemented with high-quality marine flakes and pellets. While beneficial for reef ecosystems, they may prey on smaller shrimp and crabs, but they help control populations of pests like fireworms, pyramidellid snails, feather dusters, wild shrimp, tubeworms, flatworms, and parasites.
