Half Black Angel (Centropyge vroliki)
Max Size: 4 inches
Diet: Omnivore
Temperament: Semi-Aggressive
Reef Compatible: With Caution. May eat soft polyps
Minimum Tank Size: 70 gallons
The Half Black Angelfish boasts a unique appearance, with one half of its body being black while the other half is pearled. This species requires a tank of at least 70 gallons in size with plenty of hiding places. It is important to note that the Half Black Angelfish should be the only dwarf angelfish in the tank as it may consume soft coral polyps, clam mantles, and zoanthids, making it a poor reef dweller.
Breeding this species in an aquarium can be challenging, and male and female individuals are indistinguishable by coloration.
The diet of the Half Black Angelfish should consist of Spirulina, marine algae, mysis shrimp, and other meaty foods. Live rock is also essential for grazing.
