Diet: Omnivore
Temperament: Semi-Aggressive
Reef Compatible: With Caution. May eat soft polyps.
Minimum Tank Size: 70 gallons
The Multicolor Angelfish, also called the Pastel Pygmy Angelfish or Many-colored Angelfish, displays pale peach-orange to yellow colors with black speckles behind the eyes and blue-black dorsal and anal fins. Its caudal fin is yellow, and a horizontal swatch of silvery-white runs from mid-body to the caudal fin.
To thrive, the Multicolor Angelfish requires a tank of at least 70 gallons with ample hiding places and live rock for grazing on microalgae. The species prefers subdued lighting due to its deep-water swimming behavior. Although the Multicolor Angelfish may nip at fleshy stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates) and clam mantles, it generally avoids small-polyped stony corals. Moreover, it is sensitive to copper-based medications.
The Multicolor Angelfish should be fed with a diet consisting of Spirulina, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other high-quality meaty items.
