Rusty Angel (Centropyge ferrugata)
Max Size: 4 inches
Diet: Omnivore
Temperament: Semi-Aggressivel
Reef Compatible: With Caution. May eat fish and crustaceans.
Minimum Tank Size: 70 gallons
The Rusty Angelfish earns its name from its dominant reddish or amber hue adorned with diminishing black dots, particularly noticeable on its dorsal to anal and pelvic fins. Its anal fin displays a dark shade, while both the dorsal and anal fins are adorned with vibrant sapphire-blue edges.
To provide a suitable habitat for the Rusty Angelfish, a tank with a capacity of at least 70 gallons is required, along with ample live rock for hiding and grazing. It should be noted that this species is not well-suited for reef environments as it has a tendency to nip at stony and soft corals, as well as clam mantles. Therefore, it is advisable to keep the Rusty Angelfish as the sole Dwarf Angelfish in the tank.
When it comes to the Rusty Angelfish's diet, it should consist of Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis shrimp, and other meaty food items.
