The Six Bar Angelfish, also known as Sixbanded Angelfish or Six Striped Angelfish, features a pale-tan body with five dark brown stripes and one white stripe located just behind the eye. The entire body is covered in dark blue polka-dots while vibrant sapphire-blue dots cover the caudal fin and the back portion of the anal fin. This fish is known to grunt as a warning when approached.
The Six Bar Angelfish is a large fish and needs a minimum of a 220-gallon tank with plenty of hiding places and live rock to provide a suitable environment. However, it is not recommended to keep this fish in a reef aquarium as it may nip at stony and soft corals as well as clam mantles. The fish is also hermaphroditic, difficult to breed, and indistinguishable in color from male to female.
To ensure a healthy diet for the Six Bar Angelfish, it should be fed Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other meaty items at least three times a day.
