Smith's Blenny (Meiacanthus smithii)
Max Size: 3 inches
Diet: Omnivore
Temperament: Semi-Aggressive
Reef Compatible: Yes
Minimum Tank Size: 30 gallons
The Smith's Blenny, also known as the Disco Blenny, is native to the western Indo-Pacific and belongs to the Fang Blenny family. These fish are uncommon but add a special touch to any size reef tank. They are white in color, with a black line at the base of the dorsal fin, and are attractive and free-swimming.
Like other Fang Blennies, Smith's Blennies have high metabolisms and require small feedings at least 2-3 times a day. They are not picky eaters and will readily accept a variety of prepared foods. It is important to provide ample rockwork in the aquarium for these fish to hunt and hide when they feel threatened. They will spend most of their time visible in the water column.
