Striped Blenny (Meiacanthus grammistes)
Max Size: 5 inches
Diet: Omnivore
Temperament: Semi-Aggressive
Reef Compatible: Yes
Minimum Tank Size: 30 gallons
The Striped Blenny, also known as Gammistes Blenny, Striped Fang Blenny, or Striped Poison-Fang Blenny, has distinctive black and yellow stripes that extend along its body. It is best kept in a 30-gallon or larger aquarium with live rock, which provides both a source of food and hiding places. Generally, it is not an aggressive fish, but it may use its fangs as a defense mechanism against similarly-shaped tank mates.
To keep the Striped Blenny healthy, its diet should include finely chopped crustaceans, vitamin-enriched brine shrimp, and frozen food preparations for herbivores.
