The Blue Gudgeon Dartfish, also known as the Blacktail Goby or Blacktail Dartfish, hails from the vibrant reefs of Fiji. Its elegant body features a pale blue or green hue, accentuated by a striking black spot on its tail. These fish are social creatures and thrive in pairs, making them a delightful addition to both fish-only and reef aquarium setups.
To ensure their well-being, a 30-gallon or larger aquarium with ample loose coral rubble is recommended. They enjoy having plenty of space for swimming and a soft sand bottom to indulge in their burrowing instincts. As precautionary measures, providing a tight-fitting lid is essential, as the Blue Gudgeon Dartfish may attempt to jump out of the aquarium or explore small openings. Thankfully, they tend to maintain a peaceful demeanor towards other fish.
The Blue Gudgeon Dartfish predominantly feeds on prey suspended in the water column, but they also forage for food on the substrate. To meet their dietary needs, offering a variety of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, table shrimp, and frozen food preparations designed for carnivores is essential. Feeding them at least three times per day will contribute to their overall health and vitality.
