Scissortail Goby (Ptereleotris evides)
Max Size: 5 1/2 inches
Diet: Carnivore
Temperament: Peaceful
Reef Compatible: Yes
Minimum Tank Size: 30 gallons
The Scissortail Goby, also referred to as the Scissortail Dartfish, displays a distinct appearance with a white head and a mesmerizing blue body, accentuated by its large dorsal and anal fins.
To provide the ideal environment for this captivating fish, a spacious 30-gallon or larger aquarium with loose coral rubble is recommended. It's crucial to have a tight-fitting lid in place to prevent the Scissortail Goby from attempting to jump out of the tank. A sand bottom is essential to accommodate its burrowing behavior, and ample swimming room should be ensured. While it's generally not aggressive towards other fish, its territorial nature might lead to conflicts with its own kind unless they form a mated pair.
When it comes to feeding, the Scissortail Goby thrives on a diet consisting of chopped or shaved seafood, brine shrimp, and mysis shrimp. Providing these nutritious food options will support its well-being and vibrant colors in the aquarium.
