Temperament: Peaceful
Reef Compatible: Yes
Minimum Tank Size: 30 gallons
The Yellow Watchman Goby originates from the Philippines and boasts a subdued coloration that serves as a perfect canvas to showcase the captivating spotted, jewel-like patterns adorning its head and fins. With its perpetually frowning expression, this goby species has a playful tendency to peek out from behind rocks, adding an element of charm to the aquarium. Additionally, it has been observed to form symbiotic relationships with snapping shrimp.
To provide a suitable habitat for the Yellow Watchman Goby, a 30-gallon or larger aquarium is recommended. The tank should incorporate plenty of loose coral rubble, allowing the goby to burrow, as well as providing ample swimming space. A sand substrate is essential to accommodate its natural burrowing behavior. While the Yellow Watchman Goby is generally not aggressive towards other fish, it can exhibit territorial behavior and may engage in fights with members of its own species, unless they are a mated pair. To prevent any escape attempts, as this species has a tendency to jump, a tightly fitting lid is necessary to ensure containment.
When it comes to diet, the Yellow Watchman Goby benefits from a varied selection of food. Its meals should include mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, table shrimp, and frozen preparations specifically designed for carnivorous species. Feeding should occur at least twice per day to meet its nutritional requirements and promote overall health.
