Discover the captivating Hooded Fairy Wrasse, a stunning addition to the aquarium hobby first described in 2003. Cirrhilabrus bathyphilus is currently among the most sought-after deep-water wrasses in its genus.

Also known as the Coral Sea Wrasse, this species boasts a striking color pattern including shades of rose, pink, orange, and yellow, with purple-black edging on its dorsal and tail fins. While males and females share similar colors, males intensify their hues during courtship, with colors potentially shifting based on their mood.

Peaceful and active, the Hooded Fairy Wrasse adds both vibrant color and liveliness to a fish-only or reef aquarium of 70 gallons or more. It coexists harmoniously with corals and invertebrates, making it an ideal reef fish. A single male can be kept with a group of females introduced either prior to or simultaneously with the male. However, these wrasses are known for their jumping behavior, so a secure lid is essential.

To entice this fish to eat when first introduced, consider offering live brine shrimp or frozen mysis. Their diet should include a variety of enriched frozen brine shrimp, frozen mysis, and other marine meats.
