Temperament: Peaceful
Reef Compatible: Yes
Minimum Tank Size: 90 gallons
The Tricolor Fairy Wrasse, also referred to as the Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse, Redheaded Fairy Wrasse, or Red-eyed Fairy Wrasse, is often considered a variant of the Blueside Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus cyanopleura). It has a blue body with a striking red dorsal edge and a yellow-orange face that can appear blue or purple, depending on its mood. During courtship, the male's colors intensify.
To thrive, the Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse requires a shaded area away from bright lights and a 90-gallon or larger aquarium with a tight-fitting canopy, as they are prone to jumping. They are ideal for reef aquariums because they will not harm corals or invertebrates.
The Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse's diet should consist of vitamin-enriched frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and other meaty foods, as well as high-quality marine flake and pellet foods.
